Laser welding technology for auto plastic parts

    In summary, the above mentioned plastic laser-welded parts for various fuel systems are mainly made of two materials: nylon with glass fiber and POM.These two kinds of plastic materials have been verified for a long time by various laser plastic welding applications in the automotive industry, and there is no problem with the laser welding materials themselves.The key points are as follows:


01The plastic parts of the laser penetration layer should not be too thick in the weld area. The nylon material should be less than 2mm and the POM material should be less than 3mm.Too thick wall thickness will increase the difficulty of laser plastic welding process and significantl      y affect the welding speed.


02If the laser penetration layer is made of plastic material that can be penetrated by black laser, it must be noted that the laser penetration rate of the plastic material meets the standard, and the ordinary black plastic material will not be adulterated in the injection molding process, a      nd the screw must be cleaned with the same plastic material before injection.


    The laser welding of the plastic parts of the fuel system mainly adopts three different plastic laser welding processes: rotary profile welding, plane profile welding and quasi-synchronous welding.


1. Welding of rotating profile

    

    Rotary profile welding is used for welding fuel pipe fittings and pipe fittings joints. In the rotary profile welding of plastic laser welding, laser head focuses laser to form spot and pipe fitting rotates for welding.


    In the practical application, we found that some customers who use low-end plastic laser welding equipment, in order to get a relatively wide welding seam, in the process of plastic laser welding, the synchronous movement axis to achieve a wide welding seam, if this method is used in low-end laser, welding defects are very likely to occur in mass production.


   There are many different varieties of the laser welding method of the rotating profile welding, which are mainly divided into the laser welding for the rotating fuel pipe fitting and the laser welding for the stationary fuel pipe fitting.


2.Welding of plane profile


    Profile welding is a standard process for laser welding of plastics for welding of flat welds.In the welding process, the laser head focuses the spot, and at the same time, the laser head hangs on the moving platform or moves along the welding seam to complete the welding.


    In practical application, profile welding requires high quality of injection workpiece, especially for the application of complicated welding line such as oil and gas separator.Profile welding in the process of plastic laser welding can achieve a certain depth of welding line, but this depth is very small and uncontrollable, which requires that the deion of the injection parts should not be too large.


3. Quasi-synchronous welding


    Quasi-synchronous welding is one of the most widely used laser plastic welding processes in the automotive industry. In the process of quasi-synchronous welding, the welding bar can have a relatively large depth of fusion, so it can compensate for certain deion of injection parts, and the quality requirements for injection parts are also slightly lower.


    For the application of plastic laser welding in the fuel system, no matter which welding method is used above, great attention should be paid to the design of welding bars of the welding products. The design of welding bars meeting the technical requirements of laser plastic welding and the products can make the future process development much simpler.
